Brisbane River Activities

Brisbane is known as the River City, and this has not gone unnoticed by visitors. The Brisbane River offers a refreshing escape from the city, with activities such as kayaking, SUPing, rowing and fishing available for anyone to try out. There are also plenty of other things to do in Brisbane besides just hanging out on the river bank or sitting at one of its many bars. If you’re looking for something fun to do while visiting Queensland’s capital, then head down to the river. Go check out some of these Brisbane River activities. I’ll see you there! What are you waiting for?  If you have a group that needs to travel down to the river, book a bus with us and we will get your there.

Enjoy a BBQ or Picnic on the River Bank

There are many stunning locations along the Brisbane Riverbank for a picnic. Also, many of the public parks have a dedicated BBQ area. These are also free to use, so be quick, get in there early, and enjoy some nice food.

Have a dip at Streets Beach

Brisbane is home to something very unique. Streets Beach is the biggest inner-city, man-made beach in Australia. It is located near South Bank. It can get pretty packed throughout the day, especially on a hot day. The evenings are always a little quieter, and it’s the perfect place for a quick dip and to cool down from a long day of walking.

Take a kayak or SUP out on the water

The best way to see something is often to get up close, and that’s no different with the Brisbane River. You won’t regret it! Get on the river either by hiring some boards from the many operators around or bringing your own.

Take a ride on the City Cat

One sure thing not to miss is taking a ride on the City Cat. It connects the city to places like Hamilton in the north and St Lucia in the south. You can use the City Cat to get between many of the activities you’ll be inspired to try from this list.

Reward your taste buds at the Eat Street Markets

The Eat Street Markets are located in Hamilton on the river’s north bank and are a favourite for the locals. Be sure to get there early to beat the crowd. At the market, you’ll be able to find all kinds of food from all around the world. So don’t snack beforehand and enjoy the food and the great atmosphere.

Stroll along the Teneriffe boardwalk

Teneriffe was known initially for things like hosting Australia’s largest submarine base during the second world war. Teneriffe has changed a lot, it’s now a trendy part of town with many great bars and restaurants, sure to pique the interest of the pickiest customer. It’s also a great place to catch the sunset.

In conclusion, Brisbane River is a (not so) hidden gem. It’s beautiful, expansive and full of life. This post has given you six great reasons to go out there and explore it! But there are countless others not covered today. What are your favourite river activities? Which of the six mentioned above will make your plan.
